Valentine’s Day: What’s Love Got To Do With It?

Here we are, another Valentine’s Day. Have fun, you lovers! Hopefully, you’ll be enveloped in the arms of your significant other and not – the “other.”

No doubt, this is a day for big love, shown in big ways. Because of high expectations, this can also be a day of big disappointments. We want our love to do, be, and say all the right things, at least on this day. We think; all can and will be forgiven, if that certain gift is given. Yet, too much expectation can create too much stress which in turn creates a mixed bag of emotions and acting out.

Believe it or not, the day before and after V-Day are huge infidelity days. Why? Before: adulterers are trying to please their paramour – and their main mate. Stressy, stressy. After: a mate can become angry when their expected need isn’t met (whether it was actually verbalized or not) and seek revenge. Messy, messy.

So, what’s love got to do with it? Pretty much everything, if true love is respected. But, if love seems lost, it might be time to reevaluate your wants, needs, and desires, as well as your mates. A “real-ationship” is about teamwork. It takes significant doses of playing fair and love-play to work toward building a solid team.

Now, let your A game begin!
